Project meeting – Cyprus

      In early December, the second project meeting was held in Cyprus. We arrived at the airport in Larnaca, from there we got by bus to the city of Limassol. The member of the parents´ association took us to Agros, where our partner school is situated.

On Sunday afternoon we met some teachers and parents in the hostel, where Lithuanian and Maltese partners were accommodated.

On Monday we were welcomed by teachers and students at school. We met an academic team, talked to the students. Project Coordinator prepared a presentation on Cyprus, Agros village and its surrounding, the capital and familiarized us with an agenda.

     Our partners prepared a nice and busy program for us. We did a tour of the village, visited various interesting places. We had the opportunity to see traditional sweet making, visited traditional rose water factory, we tasted traditional meat products, which are produced in this area and are known worldwide. We were very surprised at how important manufacturing is located in such a small space.

In the afternoon we moved to the local theatre, where the teachers and students prepared Christmas performance of national songs and dances. It was attended by all the students of the school and almost everyone could play a musical instrument. After the performance we had dinner, that contained of traditional meals and it continued by children's disco. Thanks to the teachers, children, parents´ association and community council we had a memorable evening.

     On Tuesday, we attended an all-day trip to Cyprus and its monuments. We visited the Agros water factory,  Kyperounta village, wine factory, museum of folk art and the church. In the beautiful village of Kakopetria we walked in the square. In the afternoon we visited  Nicosia municipality and we met with representatives who are dedicated to children and youth. Walking round the capital, we could see the division line and Ledras Street. The children liked the Christmas fair and all of us enjoyed the Christmas spirit.

     On Wednesday we planned and divided the tasks for the next period - information about our school systems and quiz on partner countries. It is necessary to collect photographic documentation of project activities and meetings and complete a questionnaire about the project meetings. During our stay we also attended lessons and had the opportunity to look into the documentation of the school.

     During our visit, we learned a lot about the school, pupils, school subjects and activities of the students. We were surprised that children were more confident and not so shy as ours and they liked to show themselves. Students had more freedom during breaks. On the other hand they respected school rules. They all were nice and hospitable. It was a very interesting meeting.
